Stars Sitting Service will find you a sitter

Stars Sitting Service Limited is an organisation who provides an on-line register of sitters who can offer families with special needs children some respite from caring. The sitters can also support a child in any mainstream childcare facility where specialist skills are required to enable the child to be fully inclusive. The sitters are available evenings, weekends and school holidays throughout Birmingham and Solihull.

Stars Sitting Service Limited has been set up by Gloria Francis who lives in Solihull. A parent of a child with severe learning disabilities, who has first hand experience of the challenges faced in finding the right people to care for children with special needs in order that we may engage in other aspects of living.

All the sitters on the register have undergone a stringent screening and recruitment process, including face to face interview, Criminal Record Bureau/police check, verification of identity, written references from existing place of work or study in relation to their child care experience. Written references are followed up by verbal verification. They will also meet the following criteria as a minimum;

• Currently be employed within an organisation working with children with special needs, either paid or voluntary work.
• Registered childminders, nannies or qualified nursery nurses with a minimum of 6 months experience of working with children with special needs
• Students who are studying to gain qualifications in the field of learning disabilities. For example trainee healthcare, social care and education professionals. All students will have undertaken a minimum amount of work experience with special needs children.

Stars Sitting Service Limited acts solely as an introduction agency only, we do not take any commission fees from the service users who use the sitters. Prior to booking a sitter you agree the rate of pay with the sitter. You pay the sitter direct on completion of their booking. All sitters are self employed.

To access to the register of sitters there are two options available to service users.

Membership rate payable quarterly. Unlimited access to register of sitters available for duration of payment quarter £12.50.

Non membership rate. One off fee. Pay as and when a sitter is required to view register of sitters available. £3.50.
